Kleinmann's tortoise : ウィキペディア英語版 | Kleinmann's tortoise
Kleinmann's tortoise (''Testudo kleinmanni'' ), often called the Egyptian tortoise and occasionally Leith's tortoise, is a critically endangered species of neck-hiding tortoise. Once more widespread, its numbers are now dwindling. The species is nearly extinct in Egypt, and complete extinction in the wild is a looming threat unless more actions are taken to protect this species. ==Etymology== The specific name, ''kleinmanni'', is in honor of Edouard Kleinmann, a French stockbroker who collected the holotype in 1875.〔Beolens B, Watkins M, Grayson M. (2011). ''The Eponym Dictionary of Reptiles''. Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press. xiii + 296 pp. ISBN 978-1-4214-0135-5. (''Testudo kleinmanni'', p. 143).〕
